Excursion to ancient Staritsa
For the first time Staritsa was mentioned in 1297. Originally it was a fortress of Tver princes. In the 16thcentury it was joined to the Moscow possessions and after the death of Ivan the Third his youngest son Andrey inherited Staritza. During his reign a lot of stone churches were built.
Staritsa district museum occupies Vvedenskaya church of Uspenskiy monastery (the 16th century). Here you can see the most interesting exhibits of the Staritsa district. One can see a traditional costume of Staritsa women of the 16th century: a shirt, a sarafan and a headdress decorated with river pearls and beads.
Charming architectural ensembles of Staritsa is a real stone poem and frozen music to admire infinitely.
